WITH the theme of“Deep integration of information communication, artificial intelligence and robotics,” a public lecture was given by a leading expert in intelligent robotics at the Shenzhen Institute of Information Technology on Friday.

In Zhang’s eyes, intelligent manufacturing has become a technological spotlight in today’s world. “Many countries all around the world compete fiercely in the area of intelligent manufacturing. It’s a good chance for China and Germany to strengthen their cooperation and develop further in the relevant industries,” he said.
Zhang has conducted research in the area of intelligent robotics and information communication for nearly 30 years. Based on his past experiences, he introduced the history and development of the relevant technologies in a comprehensive way.
In his speech, he pointed out that the robotic research has entered the age of robot 2.0. The current research on robots has transferred focus from a robots in a cage to robot 2.0, which is interactive, learned and predictable.
According to the professor, human-computer interaction and the deviation between a robot’s sense of the world and the real world are the two main indicators to measure the level of intelligence. He said, “A real intelligent robot should be capable of continuous and deep learning besides memorizing instructions.”
Zhang explained that in today’s world, flexible operation of the robot is regarded as a common technological conundrum by many countries.
The professor regards the intelligent manufacturing industry as a good chance for Sino-German cooperation. He said,“China and Germany should take advantage of each other and carry out cooperation through various channels.”
